Research Methods

In this task, I read about several types of research methods. It's crucial because we lay down the directions of the whole design journey: we try to understand our users. Picking one or more research forms can lead us to the key findings regarding what and how to design the product. The most useful combination of doing the research if we do more than one, to gather the most valuable information from potential users.

I learnt about user interviews, surveys, analytics reviews, diary studies and contextual inquiries. My task was to pick 3 methods for my project. I drafted a 1-page, single-spaced document discussing each of the chosen research methods in order of usefulness when it comes to addressing the problem statement. For each method, I shared the reasons for selecting it, as well as what I think it will help me learn. In a closing paragraph, I talk about the rationale for my decision, whether I planned to use a single research method or a combination of methods.
